Horse Horses in AVH There are many things you can do with the horses here and below you will learn how to do each of these things:
  1. Buying horses

    There are several ways to buy a horse:

    1. The I want to menu from the toolbar.

      > First step
      On the toolbar click on Buy a horse to go to the market.
       
      > Second step
      Select the breed, gender and traits of the horse and click on buy this horse
    2. From the market.

      > First step
      Click on the market icon on top.
       
      > Second step
      From the "market" menu in the toolbar select "buy":
      Note that you can buy Store horses or Rescued horses

      • Store horses are horses that are 2 game years old, have 0 experience points, and their ancestry is unknown.
        If you are a new player, you probably want to start by buying a store horse.
      • Rescued horses are horses that have been sold by other players to the market, or have been rescued from owners that were not taking care of them.
       
      > Third step
      If you chose to buy store horses:.
      Select the breed, gender and traits of the horse and click on buy this horse

      If you chose to buy rescued horses:.
      Select one or more horses by checking the checkboxes under the "Buy" column. When you are done click on Buy
    3. From other players.

      > First step
      Move the mouse over the magnifying glass. and click on the horse icon to find horses.
       
      > Second step
      Select what type of horse you want to find and then click on find


      The "For sale" checkbox must be checked!
       
      > Third step
      The game game will display a list of horses that match your search and you can buy a horse by clicking on Buy

    Remember!
    • The number of horses you can own depends on your level. When you join AVH you can have 1 horse before you advance.
    • You must feed your horses and vet them.
    • You can buy horses from the market or from other players.
  2. Feeding horses (Food & Treats)
    Mental notes
    • Your horses are found in the stable.
    • In order to select a horse, go to your stable and click on a horse name.
    • Treats improve your horse's happiness and can be given once a day.

    Steps required to feed your horse(s):

    > First step
    Click on the stable icon on top.
     
    > Second step
    In the stable you will see the list of your horses.
    Select the desired horse by clicking on its name.
     
    > Third step
    Once you clicked on the horse name, the game will display the horse page. The feeding area looks like the next image:
    Select the type of feed you want your horse and click Change feed.
     
    > Optional step
    If you wish to give your horse treats select the treat and click Add treats.

    Remember!
    • Horses need to be fed in order to compete in shows.
    • You can buy feed and treats from the market.
    • If you do not feed your horse for 3 game years, the game will put it for sale in your shop.
  3. Showing horses
    Mental notes
    • Your horse advances levels by entering shows.
    • Shows run during the night. Your horse will get XP when the shows run, not when you enter them.
    • Your horse should wear tack when entering shows. It improves the performance.

    To show your horse you need to:

    • Select your horse from stable.
    • Search for the wanted shows.

    Click on the stable icon on top.
     
    > Second step
    In the stable you will see the list of your horses.
    Select the desired horse by clicking on its name.
     
    Searching for the wanted shows
    > First step
    On the Find things menu of the toolbar click on Shows.
     
    > Second step
    Choose the show type and click find



    Note: If you are a beginner you should ignore the other options there, they will be useful once you understand the game better.

    You do not have to type a show name. Just leave it empty.
     
    > Third step
    If you followed the previous steps you should see a list of shows that you can enter.
    All you have to do now is click the Enter show buttons on the right side of the list.

    Remember
    • You can also find shows using the magnifying glass or from the horse page directly.
    • If your horse is level 1 it can only enter shows with the levels 1 to 4.
    • There are 15 show types, but the best for you is to specialize your horse in one type or two, not more.
  4. Selling horses

    There are several ways to sell a horse:

    1. Selling at the market.

      > First step
      Click on the market icon on top.
       
      > Second step
      From the The market menu in the toolbar select Sell and click on Horses:
       
      > Third step
      Select one or more horses by checking the checkboxes on the right side. When you are done click on Sell horses
       

      Remember!
      • The market pays 800 coins for each sold horse.
      • To buy a rescued horse you have to pay 850 coins.
      • A store horse costs 1000 coins.
    2. Selling in your shop.

      > First step
      Click on the shop icon on top.
       
      > Second step
      From the Your shop menu in the toolbar select Sell and click on Horses:
       
      > Third step
      Select one or more horses by checking the checkboxes on the right side and typing the price you wish to sell for. When you are done click on Update list
       

      Remember!
      • You only put your horses for sale, they are not automatically sold.
      • You can remove a horse from the list by unchecking the checkbox.
      • Once a horse is bought by another player you can see that in the Sales records menu.
    3. Setting an auction.

      > First step
      Click on the market icon on top.
       
      > Second step
      From the The market menu in the toolbar select Auctions and click on Sell:
       
      > Third step
      Once you are in the auctions area you need to create a new auction by clicking New auction
       
      > Fourth step
      • Select the horse you wish to sell and set a name for your auction.
      • You can set a reserve (meaning that if nobody offers more, your horse will not be sold).
      • When you are done click oncreate

      Remember!
      • Auctions are are not free (for each game month you pay 100 coins).
      • The longer the duration, the more expensive it costs.
      • You can at any time accept a bid, or cancel the auction.
  5. Breeding horses
    Mental notes
    • Horses must be at least 3 game years old and at least level 5 in order to be breedable.
    • Horses must be fed have the breeding check done at the vet before breeding.
    • Inbreeding will not work.

    In AVH breeding works this way:
    The owner of a mare searches for a stallion that is available for stud, requests stud and the owner of the stallion is automatically notified.
    If the owner of the stallion accepts the mare will become pregnant and will give birth to a foal in 3 to 4 real days.
    Obviously the foal stays with the mare.
    Note: If the same player owns both the mare and the stallion, the breeding is done immediately after the request.
    Below are the steps required to breed your horses:

    1. Breeding mares.

      > First step
      Move the mouse over the magnifying glass. and click on the horse icon to find horses.
       
      > Second step
      Select what breed of the stud you want to find and then click on find


      The "For stud" checkbox must be checked and the gender must be Stallion!
       
      > Third step
      The game game will display a list of studs that match your search and you can select the desired one by clicking on its name.

      Note: On the right side you see the stud fee.
       
      > Fourth step
      The information about the stallion will be displayed on the screen.
      Next you have to click on the Request stud link (at the bottom of that window).
       
      > Fifth step
      Another window will pop up asking you to select the mare you wish to breed.
      Once you selected the mare click on Stud request
      Note: At the end you should see in the message bar: The owner of the stallion was informed about your breeding request!

      Remember!
      • You can see your mare's stud requests if you go to your stable and click on the mare's name.
      • You can withdraw a stud request on your mare's page (in the stable).
      • The owner of the mare will pay the stud request that the owner of the stallion is setting.
      • If the stud request is rejected by the owner of the stallion, the stud fee is returned to you.
    2. Breeding stallions.

      Mental notes
      • In order to breed a stallion must be made available for stud.
      • You can accept or reject breeding requests on your stallion's page.

      Selecting the stallion from your stable
      > First step
      Click on the stable icon on top.
       
      > Second step
      In the stable you will see the list of your horses.
      Select the desired horse by clicking on its name.
       
      Making stallion available for stud
      > First step
      Once you clicked on the stallion's name, the game will display its page. Look for the stud are (it looks like the image on the right)

      Check the Available checkbox and type the stud fee. When you are done click on Update horse


      Now your stallion is available for stud.
      Accepting or rejecting stud requests
      > First step
      If you receive a letter that a player requested stud, go to your stallion's page and you will see a list of requests.
      To accept a certain mare select the radio button on the right side and click on
      Accept selected mare

      Mental notes
      • You will be notified by a letter if someone requests stud on your stallion.
      • Your stallion needs to be fed and have the breeding check done in order to be able to breed.
